To help determine whether owning a Merle Norman Studio is right for you, here
are the answers to our most frequently asked questions.
Q: How much money can I make with my Studio?
A: That depends on many factors. We cannot estimate
what you will earn; however, our Franchise Disclosure Document (sent to
you upon request) includes some average sales data for mall and non-mall
locations.
Q: Is cosmetics experience necessary to own a Studio?
A: While cosmetics or retail experience is very
helpful, it is not required. Our Home Office Training covers a broad range of
subjects, including product knowledge, makeup application tips, selling
techniques, business management and much more.
Q: What is the ideal size for a Merle Norman Cosmetic
Studio?
A: Requirements are 400 to 600 square feet in a
regional mall and 600 to 1000 square feet in a strip center.
Q: What is the cost of the franchise fee and ongoing
royalties?
A: Merle Norman does not charge a franchise fee,
royalties or advertising fees.
Q: What is the length of the franchise agreement?
A: The initial term of the franchise agreement is 10 years,
and at the end of the initial term there is an option to extend the franchise
agreement for another 10 years. Studio Owners are free to terminate the
franchise agreement at any time during the term.
Q: Does Merle Norman qualify for Small Business
Administration (SBA) financing?
A: Yes. Merle Norman has been pre-approved under the
SBA loan-expediting program.
Q: What if I want to purchase a Studio, but I don’t want
to work in it?
A: We strongly recommend that our franchisees be
actively involved in running their Merle Norman businesses.
Q: Can I carry other products or offer additional
services in my Studio?
A: Carrying other products may be approved depending
on the restrictions in your retail space lease. We do ask that you offer only
complementary products or services and no competing products. We will not open a
Studio with anyone who plans to offer tanning services.
